Everything You Need To Know About Adding Volume To Your Lehenga: Can-Can 101

Not everyone can afford a lehenga with 24 kalis. Not everyone WANTS a lehenga with 24 kalis – the fabric adds a ton of weight.

But if you’ve picked a lehenga that falls straight, chances are you’re wondering how to make it look more bridal and royal, without spending more money on additional kalis.

The Ultimate Guide to Wedding Shopping in South Ex

Everything you needed to know about Wedding Shopping in Delhi’s famous South Ex market

Ask anyone in Delhi – which are the best markets in Delhi to do some bridal shopping – and South Extension is guaranteed to be in their top 3 list. But if you’re not familiar with the market, shopping at South Ex for the first time as a bride can be an overwhelming experience.

Aunties and relatives will give you their own version of “beta you must shop at this store” and suddenly you have a list of 20 stores to visit, and no clue about what the specialty of each store is. You will head into the market on Day 1 expecting to get everything done in a single visit, and realise after 7 visits that there are still a dozen more shops on your list and you’re nowhere near completing your trousseau shopping!

Well, calm down already. I have lost count of how many times I’ve been to South Ex for bridal shopping – either for myself or a friend or a cousin, and after years of “wedding research”, I’ve put together the most extensive list I could possibly put together in a single post.

Wedding Wardrobe: Anushka Hajela

Anushka was getting married. You know – Anushka! The blogger babe behind BombayBubble? Yes, the fashion blog. Her wedding had me excited even before she had shared a single image from her big day.

Why? Because, silly, when a fashion blogger gets married, music plays on cue and us wedding bloggers are the only ones who can hear it.

Anushka debuted a first peek into her March wedding recently on Instagram, and I almost unhinged my jaw at the sight of her wedding gown.

It was a breath-taking white wedding dress.

But how did a girl from Mumbai end up in a white wedding dress all the way over in the UK? And who made that stunning gown?

I got in touch with Anushka some time back, and she was incredibly generous in sharing every single detail from her wedding. Here is her Wedding Wardrobe story.

5 Reception Outfits under 50k!

Well, under ₹46,000 to be precise.

Receptions. An event most of the Indian community still continues to have at weddings, even when the bride and groom are from the same city. I know there’s a small section of you who have started to do away with Receptions as a separate event altogether. Makes sense. You can just combine your wedding ceremony with the Reception. After all, when your pheras are done and you stand on stage to greet your guests as man and wife, having a separate Reception essentially means you’re going to do the same thing all over again. The workings of a combined Wedding+Reception is something I can talk about for an hour, so let’s leave that for another post!

Maxi Skirts: The New Budget Lehenga?

If you’re looking for light lehengas that are also light on the pocket, I have an idea for you. I’m sure I’m not the first person in the world to have had this inspired thought, but last weekend I saw this picture of a maxi skirt & crop top –

Fuschia embroidered maxi skirt with nude crop top

and thought to myself, “This is so pretty, can’t it double up as a lehenga?”

Waittaminute *quickly scrolls down to check price*

Yes, it can!

The crop top and skirt were priced at ₹26,000 – the average these days to buy a light lehenga by an even slightly known designer. Was I onto something?

Were there other maxi skirts out there that could double up as light lehengas?

Wedding Planning 101: How To Get Your Dream Lehenga in Your Budget

indian wedding planning 101 how to get my dream wedding lehenga in my budget

If you’re a bride to be, you’ve probably been through this (or are just about to) –

Walk into the 15,291st store because you still haven’t found the perfect lehenga. Browse the racks uninterestedly (you’re exhausted for God’s sake!) when suddenly – it’s as if your fortunes have turned, and the heaven’s above are shining down on you (cue: spotlight on the lehenga as you take it in your hands) – could this be IT? The right colours, the right design. Oh. em. gee. It’s beyond perfect! You quickly ruffle through the layers of can-can and 24-kalis to find the price tag.

Anddd…!?!

You’re left gawking. You dump that piece of garbage of a lehenga (case of sour grapes?) and walk out of the store. Never to return…

WAITTAMINUTE!

Let’s rewind that last bit, shall we?

You’re left gawking. BUT, but, but. You’re a TDB reader. And if this lehenga is not WAY over your budget (let’s say, it’s INR 20 to 30,000 over what you wanted to spend), you know how to afford it because you’ve read this post! After a quick chat for customising the lehenga, you pay the advance and in a few weeks time – you own your dream wedding lehenga! *high five!*

HOW?

Vendor Review: MUA Shruti Sharma of Monsoon Salon

Shruti Sharma Makeup Artist MUA Monsoon Salon review cover

Edit: I just got to know Shruti no longer works at Monsoon Salon. She’s now freelancing as a makeup artist, and you can get in touch with her at +91-8800578358

I first met Shruti when I had accompanied a bride to be for her makeup trial at Monsoon Salon. Monsoon was (and still is) giving free trials for wedding makeup, and I had suggested we give it a try and see if it’s right for the bride. We met Shruti at Monsoon’s South Ex salon, and my first impression of her was Continue reading “Vendor Review: MUA Shruti Sharma of Monsoon Salon”
