14 Favourite Finds for Brides! From Shyamal & Bhumika’s Romantic Collection

I’M IN LOVE!

I recently fell for a little romance. It was a love so deep, I was most tempted to trade in my husband for…oh, I couldn’t choose which one! The lilac lehenga, or the pale blue gown…or that fiery red anarkali?

It was near-impossible to choose ONE, I’ll tell you that.

No prizes for guessing what I fell in love with – Shyamal & Bhumika’s new collection of the most delicately beautiful Indian wear, fittingly titled “A Little Romance”. With all the romantic hues of fiery red love to pale blues and soft lilacs, it’s a dreamy collection for the princess bride.

Breath-taking, gorgeous, stunning – even these sound like a bit of an underestimation to describe the sheer beauty of it all. The designers categorise this collection as “vintage and period couture with a timeless elegance. The designs will make heads turn, and it’s something out of the ordinary for your special day.”

I loved more than a dozen pieces, and put them all together for you to browse at leisure. The remaining 40 odd outfits from the collection, including pre-draped saris, lehengas, anarkalis and gowns are available right after the Top Picks.

I know, I know. There’s been a lot of “Best Of” posts lately. Technically, they are the “Best Picks”, so what else do you want me to call them?! Ugh. #bloggerwoes

After Amazon India Couture Week and BMW India Bridal Fashion Week, there was one weekend us bloggers got a chance to breathe (because AICW and BIBFW were back to back!) This blogger of yours, though, did not breathe enough that Independence Day weekend. It was spent thoroughly enjoying late nights and hectic days…with friends. Followed by a trip to Mumbai for work (post coming up next!) which then led to…illness. Yes, I’ve been sick. For a whole week. And I’m still only starting to get better, it feels. I’m exhausted, cranky, sleepy, achy all the time. Maybe I was overworked. I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it.

Best of Vogue Wedding Show 2015

THE Vogue Wedding Show kicked off in Delhi this Friday, and if you’re wondering – was it really worth attending? – the answer’s a resounding yes. Of course, it’s a luxury wedding exhibition, so we expected nothing but the best-in-the business designers and jewellery makers at Taj Palace Hotel.

Anita Dongre’s Summer Bride 2015

There was one big name missing from fashion week last month – Anita Dongre.

Lakme Fashion Week came and went, as did Wills India Fashion Week’s re-named avtaar – Amazon India Fashion Week. I did multiple “best of” posts for both, and was sure that Anita Dongre would make it to the Top Picks. But not a sniff of a spring-summer or autumn-winter collection by the designer, at either fashion week. Where is she?

Out of the 80+ designers who showcased at Lakme Fashion Week, only a handful created lehengas I loved. This didn’t come as a surprise because the Summer Resort edition doesn’t really scream bridal, and since lehengas are essentially wedding wear, there were limited options to pick from anyway. I’ve been staring at my laptop continuously for the last 5 days non-stop. Lakme Fashion Week just wrapped up last night, and with all the live-streaming on YouTube and press releases in my inbox, I’m just about ready to go on vacation now. A vacation from my laptop. For, like, a day. Because Amazon India Fashion Week starts in 2 days. Ah, the relaxed blogger life :p

I’ve already written about my favourite show from all of LFW this season: Anushree Reddy. But the other designers weren’t far behind with drool-worthy outfits. Of course, I went through videos and pictures of all 45 shows to save you some precious time you can now utilize on more important things – like planning your wedding, going for a run, watching the latest Grey’s Anatomy episode…whatever floats your boat, really.
