Top 5 Trends & Favourite Looks from Fashion Week

eStylista guest post Fashion Week India 2013

Delhi recently wrapped up 2 weeks of non-stop fashion – India Bridal Fashion Week followed by Delhi Couture Week. While I didn’t get to cover DCW, I do have all the press releases and pictures in my inbox and I’m still contemplating doing posts on the few collections that I did like.

In the mean time, I wrote 2 posts on the Fashion Weeks Continue reading “Top 5 Trends & Favourite Looks from Fashion Week”

I was tweeting constantly during this show going on and on about how the theme was Greek. First off, my bad. Turns out it was Roman! Should’ve noticed the war Gods of Rome in the centre. Oops! Anyway, it turns out a lot of people confuse Greek mythology with Roman mythology because the Romans borrowed a lot from the Greek, so I shouldn’t feel like burying my head in a wall somewhere so that I can just die of embarrassment. Ok, who am I kidding? I’m still embarrassed! Especially because I love all things Greek and I should’ve picked up on the difference!

Any-hoo, the show was fabulous. Just as packed as Rohit Bal’s Continue reading “Suneet Varma at India Bridal Fashion Week”

Adarsh Gill at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

First of all, thank you for your patience while I gave my hand some much needed rest. It could do with a lot more, but for now, this will have to do. In other news, I’ve changed the rules of the How I Met Your Father giveaway slightly so do have a look! Back to how the first show on Day 5 at IBFW went…

I didn’t enjoy the Adarsh Gill show too much. While in the pictures a lot of the clothes seem really nice, in reality most of them looked like they’d OD-ed (overdosed) on bling. There was so much stonework – shiny & overpowering. I honestly began to wonder if bling was THIS back in action?

Not for me, though!

In addition to the generosity of bling, the show also saw some decent Western wear outfits. And the one good thing was Continue reading “Adarsh Gill at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013”

Rohit Bal at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

Dramatic. Fun. Go big or go home. That pretty much sums up the Rohit Bal show!

But before we get into the details of the clothes & the show, here’s another mini-story about…

How I managed to give you live-updates at the jam-packed show with so many people blocking my view

I was one of the first few people to enter the show area, and I quickly found myself a fantastic spot in the aisle (I didn’t want to sit as I would be unable to see the clothes properly). I was basically standing right next to the second row, which was a pretty great spot! Unfortunately, getting in early proved disadvantageous. It started to get really full, so full that other people from the media came and stood right in front of me. It was so packed, they had nowhere else to go! Falguni & Shane Peacock at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

Day 3. I loved the Garden of Eden feel of the show, the music (was it jazz?) and the romanticism of floral headpieces, soft wavy hair and golden eyes. It felt like you’re floating in a dream. Unfortunately, the clothes didn’t add to that dream, they took away from it. Some pieces looked absolutely hideous – OTT bling, no clear lines – not the kind of clothes I would wear myself. But there was a gem or two in there. Continue reading “Falguni & Shane Peacock at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013”

Raghavendra Rathore at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

Men, men, men. Gorgeous men, smoking hot men, in well-fitted suits and pants and razor sharp cuts on their jackets and waistcoats. Ufff!

I was sitting away from my husband during this show, and I quickly developed a crush on one of the male models. Note to all husbands – NEVER leave your wife alone during a Raghavendra Rathore fashion show. She’ll quickly develop a male model crush that will be difficult to get rid off.

Back to the collection. It had Raghavendra Rathore written all over it. The perfect fit, men looking sharp – it was also the only show where there was an equal number (if not more) of Menswear. So many great ideas for the boys – what they can wear to their own wedding functions! Throw out those plain kurtas, and get yourself some ideas from this plethora of awesomeness in the mens’ collection.

While the men set fire to the runway, the women weren’t too far behind. I found a couple of outfits I loved for us girls as well. Although nothing from the women’s collection could be worn Continue reading “Raghavendra Rathore at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013”

Jyotsna Tiwari at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

thedelhibride at IBFW 2013 Jyotsna Tiwari

On Day 2, Rina Dhaka’s show was followed by Jyotsna Tiwari’s. Which kind of saved the whole show. With western wear in their desi blinged out avatar, it was something new and different. Bright raw silk dresses & gowns, multi-coloured blouses, crop tops and peplums on lehengas – it truly was a desi-western fusion line. And I insist you go through the pictures under “The Remaining Collection” section as well. A lot of those outfits were also stand out pieces, with tops on lehengas that could most certainly be teamed with a pair of pants! And don’t even get me started on the pencil pants – Jyotsna Tiwari made them look goooood! I want a pair now. Continue reading “Jyotsna Tiwari at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013”

Rina Dhaka & Prateik Babbar at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

thedelhibride India Bridal Fashion Week Rina Dhaka Prateik Babbar

I didn’t like the Rina Dhaka collection.

But then she put Prateik Babbar in the show.

Which gave me ONE talking point about the show, one that I loved so much, I decided to atleast mention her collection in a whole post.

Then he got on his knees and kissed another girl’s hand, like, 10 feet from me. Ouch.

So I’m back to – I didn’t like the Rina Dhaka Continue reading “Rina Dhaka & Prateik Babbar at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013”
