I will be honest. I continue to remain rather uninspired, with all the fashion at fashion weeks this season. The only 3 designers who have sparked a little (or a lot) inside of me have been Varun Bahl (at India Couture Week), Sabyasachi (at Vogue Wedding Show) and Anita Dongre (also at Vogue Wedding Show).
While working on the Vogue Wedding Show post (it will be up on the blog shortly), I dragged myself to Day 2 of India Bridal Fashion Week. All the shows till now have been nice, but nice isn’t good enough. I want AMAZING!
Ashima Leena kicked off Day 2 with a South Indian bride collection of silk saris and temple jewellery, and I found a few pretty pieces at Falguni & Shane Peacock’s show. The last show of the evening was Tarun Tahiliani’s, and I had some hope pinned on it. TT and I have never been BFF’s, we don’t share the same design aesthetic, but he always promises to give me atleast a piece or two he knows I’ll like. He’s a very practical man, and loves giving his brides and grooms what they need – and his most recent attempt has been to create light-weight silhouettes that still look wedding-worthy, and are, at the same time, easy and convenient to carry. Who wouldn’t appreciate his effort?!
The stage looked eerie, and a blogger friend commented, “What’s up with the Nehru Planetarium look?” His Couture and Bridal 2015 collection is titled “Our Eclectic New World” and the stage literally looked like a New World…in outer space. Ok, I didn’t exactly get the set design. But I love planetariums, considering how rarely we city peeps get to gaze at a starry night. So put stars into anything, and I’ll inevitably like it 🙂
