I’m well aware of how late I am to the party. Sabyasachi’s 2016 collection has been out for a while, and I’ve been sitting quietly in a corner, mesmerised and, oddly, nostalgic. I truly discovered Sabyasachi only in 2012 – the year of my wedding. I had, of course, heard the name over the years but since fashion and designer names were something “other people” knew about and fan-girled all over, it was left outside the purview of my commoner’s life. In the months leading up to my wedding, though, Sabyasachi went from “Is Sabyasachi a woman or man?” to suddenly a name I uttered only with reverence.
I did not want to be a Sabyasachi bride. I knew the price was out of my range, nor was I particularly taken by the heavy embroidery. But as the years have gone by, and season after season he has delivered designs that every second bride in the country wants to adorn, I have come to recognize him for the genius he truly is. One would think that after a season of the most decadently beautiful bridal wear, he would have emptied his genius cup and would try and make do with slight alterations in the design for next year. But then he will come and surprise you with a floral chic collection, followed by another ultra luxurious couture line in pastel hues, and later experiment with a line that looks nothing like what the average bride would aspire to wear. His brides refuse to abandon him, and when you next watch a slew of images of his new collection and can’t help but feel incredibly elated, you know you’ve been converted. You too, now, are one of the millions who aspire to be a Sabyasachi bride.
For the brides of Summer 2016, Sabyasachi has launched a collection titled, “A Tale of Benaras” with a palette of indigo blue, ivory, green and pink hues. With dreamy floral patterns on some, and his signature gold zardozi embroidered on others, the new line satisfies the sartorial cravings of everyone who has even an iota of an eye for beauty. Brides (who can afford Sabya), your work is cut out for you. Just pick one of these.

Ahhh…what’s not to like here?
Like you, I only discovered Sabyasachi when I was getting married and researching my outfit. While I couldn’t afford one of his creations – his work was a still a major inspiration for me in how I wanted my overall bridal look to be.

Hey My Dear, the insides of a Lehenga are puffed by tough nets through techniques .A normal tailor may not be sucessfully doing it for you .Better approach a designer.

I’m not based in India and I have gone through sooo many posts all over the internet trying to confirm what a Sabysachi costs. So I understand that prices start at 2.5 lakh and just go up from there, but I want to know what 2.5 lakh gets you and what does 5 lakh get you and what does 8 lakh get you? Please haaalp!! I want to know what prices to expect and how I can manage my expectations. Many thanks!
