thedelhibells: Singapore aka Honeymoon Part 4

My husband & I left for Singapore the next morning after breakfast. We lost a couple of hours to the time difference, so by the time we landed it was already dark. The 2 hour flight delay didn’t help either. We reached our hotel at 11.30 pm, tired and hungry. So I quickly ordered for dinner in the room, and while we unpacked for the 3rd & last time on this trip, I made it amply clear to my husband that I wouldn’t be able to (read: flat our refused to) get ready at 8 am the next morning for the city tour. It may also have had something to do with the fact that I’d visited Singapore on a family vacation many years ago, so I decided I’d rather sleep in than end the honeymoon on an exhausted note.

The next morning, we had a lazy late breakfast and somewhere around 2 pm we finally got ourselves to Universal Studios (the THIRD amusement park).

After having done the drill at Dream World & Movie World, the magic of cool theme parks had begun to fade. I tried to remain excited, but it was pretty much exactly what we’d already seen in Gold Coast. We did eat a lot here, though.

And the BEST popcorn in the world! I don’t have a picture, but it was Garrett popcorn. We had the Chicago mix – which is basically cheesy, buttery popcorns mixed with caramel ones. It might sound yucky to some of you, but you have to try it to believe it! Have one of the cheese, then have a caramel, then have another cheese. OMG! It was the most unbelievably tastiest popcorn in the whole wide world!

In the middle of all the eating, we also looked around Universal Studios a bit :p We came across this group of boys who started singing in the middle of the road all a sudden…

We also visited a store that served only Hershey’s products, and you can imagine how happy I was just to be there! I LOVE Hershey’s everything! Hershey’s Kisses, their chocolate bars & even their chocolate syrup!

We found our way back to the hotel by 8 pm, still chomping down the never ending packet of Garrett popcorn, and slept off. I woke up at 11 PM and smacked myself on the head! “We have got to stop doing this!” I woke up my husband, asking if we should order room service. He just yawned and said, “Go back to sleep, we’ll just wake up early.” So I did.

And did we wake up early or what?! The sun had just begun to rise, and we caught this beautiful sight right outside our window.

After yet another leisurely breakfast, we got dressed to go meet my best friend (who lives in Singapore). We took a cab to Bugis street, and had lunch at Nando’s there.

It was yet another first for both of us, but honestly, the food was just ok 😐

Then my friend arrived, and took us to Marina Bay Sands. What greeted us was this very pretty view!

And then the inevitable happened. I sat back, relaxed, and starting chatting non-stop with my best friend! 🙂

We went into the mall (The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands) and walked around for a bit before we landed up at TWG – Tea Salon & Boutique. It had a very, very extensive tea menu…

But we didn’t order the tea. We ordered a dessert!

And it was the yummiest dessert we had on the entire trip! But I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called.

My friend then dropped us off at the train station, handed us our tickets and told us where to get off. We followed her instructions and got back safe & sound to the hotel, pleased with ourselves for having experienced the public transportation as well! For some reason, I feel like your travel is not complete till you’ve not used the public transport. You know, to get a feel of the way people live  in that city. To feel it’s pulse!

Back in the hotel, we didn’t have much to do except wait for our pick-up. We’d already packed our bags in the morning and checked out, so we just walked around taking some last minute pictures of the hotel.

The van picked us up right on time, and we headed off to Changi Airport. As we passed the city lights, my thoughts drifted to my last trip to Singapore. I had been here with family, and I started to recall what I had felt back then. I had wished I could’ve brought Him along with me. I had wished I could’ve roamed these beautiful streets of Singapore with him by my side. And exactly 9 years later, here I was. I’d gotten everything I’d ever asked for. And more. A freakin’ honeymoon in Singapore, Australian beaches, cotton candy and slushies, rollercoasters we never rode on and memories to last me 7 life times. If this wasn’t the perfect honeymoon, I don’t know what is. Here’s to many, many more honeymoons with my husband, my partner-in-crime, my love 🙂 I hope we manage to stumble onto a warm beach on the next one!
