Crushing on Candy Coloured Lehengas by Priyal Prakash!

Priyal Prakash is the designer kid on the block most of you wouldn’t have heard of. While she runs a small boutique in Shahpur Jat, her business is anything but small. Her designs are sold on Pernia’s Pop Up Shop and she is the go-to designer for all offbeat brides. If you love traditional, go on and skip this post. But if you’re looking for something different, she’s your girl.

When I had first seen a Priyal Prakash lehenga, it intrigued me. But I wasn’t going to put myself in it. It was for women with fashion-forward tastes, not someone like me. Then two years ago, I went roka shopping with my best friend to Shahpur Jat and we thought, why not try on a Priyal Prakash design and see how it looks. What a fantastic decision that turned out to be! Her lehenga looked drop-dead gorgeous on my friend, and I was converted to a fan for life. Priyal herself, of course, explains how her designs are not for every girl. Either you “get” her design aesthetic, or you don’t. I say – try it out on yourself, and there’s a good chance you will love it IF you’re looking for something that’s a breath of fresh air and unique.

Everything You Need To Know About Adding Volume To Your Lehenga: Can-Can 101

Not everyone can afford a lehenga with 24 kalis. Not everyone WANTS a lehenga with 24 kalis – the fabric adds a ton of weight.

But if you’ve picked a lehenga that falls straight, chances are you’re wondering how to make it look more bridal and royal, without spending more money on additional kalis.

Brides Can’t Stop Gushing Over Sabyasachi’s Dreamy 2016 Collection, and We’ve Got All The Pictures (AND Videos!)

I’m well aware of how late I am to the party. Sabyasachi’s 2016 collection has been out for a while, and I’ve been sitting quietly in a corner, mesmerised and, oddly, nostalgic. I truly discovered Sabyasachi only in 2012 – the year of my wedding. I had, of course, heard the name over the years but since fashion and designer names were something “other people” knew about and fan-girled all over, it was left outside the purview of my commoner’s life. In the months leading up to my wedding, though, Sabyasachi went from “Is Sabyasachi a woman or man?” to suddenly a name I uttered only with reverence.

Loving Anita Dongre’s Love Notes | A look at the best of her new collection

It doesn’t serve anyone for me to repeat what I’ve already said over a dozen times on the blog, so I will spare you the details of my love for the designs Anita Dongre creates. What’s new, though, is her summer wedding collection that’s written like “Love Notes” to another lucky generation of brides, grooms and wedding guests. The collection was showcased on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016, and her Love Notes jumped at me like a fresh spring breeze that smelled of bougainvillea and felt like mulmul.

She stuck to her traditional Rajasthani roots with her signature gota patti embroidery, but added another dimension with bougainvillea prints and resham threadwork.

There was plenty to love in the 60+ outfits that made their way down the ramp… Continue reading “Loving Anita Dongre’s Love Notes | A look at the best of her new collection”

30 Favourite Finds at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016!

I’m a Lakme Fashion Week girl, any day. Why the tiff with Amazon India Fashion Week? Well…

One,

I don’t get it. Why does AIFW showcase designs for the NEXT season? I fail to get excited about full sleeves and warm silks while I’m sweating it out in Delhi’s heat. And by the time the next season is finally here, that post about favourites from AIFW is so deeply embedded in the archives, I don’t think most non-fashion fanatics will make the effort to look over it again. The excitement is greater if you’re showcasing clothes people will get to wear in the next 3 months!

Two,

I’ve never physically attended LFW, and knowing that it takes place in Mumbai has left me with some dreamy assumptions of how perfectly LFW gets executed. I assume shows start on time, people stand in queues to enter, no one pushes anyone and each publication has a reserved seat in the media section. I assume the bloggers get as much respect as bigger print publications, that no one sits on a seat meant for someone else, and that people in the front 3 rows don’t ridiculously click images with iPads (that annoyingly obscures the view of anyone sitting in the back rows!) Of course, these are all dreams of a fashion week I’ve never actually attended. If you have, tell me it’s all true! 😉

And even though Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 wasn’t specifically aimed at brides to be, I found plenty of beautiful clothes to love. Continue reading “30 Favourite Finds at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016!”

This Delhi Designer’s Summer Couture Collection is Incredibly Gorgeous!

It’s fashion week season! While we wait to hear the verdict on Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016 that kicked off last night, a few designers (both big and small) have decided to launch their collections off the biggest runways. This is the first in a series of posts about new collections to look forward to as we bring in the summer of 2016. If you want to have a look at our favourites from Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016, I’ve uploaded the best outfits onto a Facebook album (instead of an entire post on the blog about it that we typically do every season). Back to Sue Mue’s latest…

Sue Mue is a little known designer wear store in Delhi’s Green Park market. Why is this a market you’ve probably not heard of if you live outside Delhi? Because it’s typically reserved for visits to buy groceries, get a haircut or grab a quick meal at one of the handful of eateries located here. Nothing to talk about, really.

But sitting comfortably in the centre of this South Delhi market is Sue Mue, a designer wear store that looks enticing from the outside but will give any bride second thoughts about entering to do some serious wedding shopping. Why? Because you’d wonder – what could a Green Park store possibly have to offer that’s worth a visit?

As it turns out, a lot more than you can imagine. Continue reading “This Delhi Designer’s Summer Couture Collection is Incredibly Gorgeous!”
