Most celebrities have stylists on their glam team these days, which basically means Best Dressed Celebs lists have a hard time picking just a handful to feature. But it also means more wedding wear inspiration for us, since our desi celebrities love to get into saris, lehengas and anarkalis!
So, yes, while there are plenty of Best Dressed Celebs list out there, I wanted to do a special Wedding Edition. Here is the best Indian wear inspiration we found in the first quarter of 2016.
Anarkalis & Suits
Sonakshi Sinha in Rimple & Harpreet Narula

The colour, the design, the sheer elegance of it – it just blows my mind! And Sonakshi Sinha did justice to the piece by accessorising with just a simple ring and small earrings. I want to wear this to the next wedding I attend. Who’s buying? 😉
Deepika Padukone in Sabyasachi

This anarkali by the great Sabyasachi is STUNNING. If you’re a bride to be, please consider this for your Reception!
Aditi Rao Hydari in Saaksha & Kinni

Gold coin work yoke, half collar, angrakha style wrap and a printed flared anarkali – there is so much going on here, yet it somehow works together wonderfully! It’s a great pick to wear to your friend’s Sangeet or Reception.
Alia Bhatt in Payal Singhal

Such a cute floral kurti, on such a cutie! Yes, I love Alia Bhatt. And I particularly love whoever styles her. This kurti is for a relaxed, casual setting, and I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want this in their wardrobe.
Madhuri Dixit in Anita Dongre

The baby pink suit is from Anita Dongre’s latest Love Notes collection, and I’m continuously falling in love with the pieces she’s made in this shade of pink (remember the pink lehenga on Mira Rajput Kapoor at Lakme Fashion Week recently?)
Nargis Fakhri in Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre sure knows how to make pastel colours work. This mint green and gold jacket anarkali is yet another feather in her designer’s cap. And Nargis Fakhri could burn down a building with how hot she looks in this.
Divya Kumar Khosla in Shasha Gaba

I’ve only recently discovered the work of Shasha Gaba, and I have been anything but disappointed. This red ensemble is just one of the many pretty pieces in their collection!
Sonali Bendre in Jayanti Reddy

A high-low anarkali with embroidered shoulders and dangling earrings – plain and simple, sure, but it’s pretty high up on the beauty scale.
Sonali Bendre in Anita Dongre
And yet another Anita Dongre design that’s earned a celebrity a spot on the best dressed list. What I loved most about the piece is that it is versatile enough to look good on women of all generations – from the bride to her younger sister, to her mother!
Saris
Anushka Sharma in Monisha Jaising

There’s something unusual about the look, but it works so well. Such a good ensemble for a friend’s wedding event!
Radhika Apte in Anavila

I’ve loved Anavila saris for quite a while, and am always amazed at how the right styling can elevate these simple saris. If you want to wear this one to a wedding, pair it with big earrings and chunky bracelets.
Lehengas
Frieda Pinto in Payal Singhal

This was one of my top picks from Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015!!! And Frieda Pinto has done the lehenga justice with her choice of blouse, dupatta and accessories. Such a great look for your friend’s wedding, or even your own Sangeet!
Karisma Kapoor in Neeru’s

I LOVE how the heaviness of the silk outfit is offset by a bold plain dupatta in the same shade. Highly recommend this for your own wedding, or for the sister of the bride.
Dia Mirza in Anita Dongre

I know, I know – enough with Anita Dongre already, right?! Another mint green ensemble to love by AD on my favourite fashion icon – Dia! The only thing I’m not a fan of is the shape of the blouse.
Aditi Rao Hydari in Sonali Gupta

The yellow lehenga is bright and peppy, just like it’s designer – Sonali Gupta! Her mind works in funky ways, hence the edgy designs. Minimal accessorising is recommended with this one, as there’s already a lot going on with the print and the bright hue.
Mouni Roy in Payal Singhal

Slightly off-beat with an off-shoulder blouse, yet traditional with a mirror work belt, this Payal Singhal lehenga blends modern and ethnic fashion into a single outfit. I love it as a Sangeet outfit! What do you think?
Regina Cassandra in Jayanti Reddy

This pretty hot pink lehenga is from the house of Jayanti Reddy, and would look beautiful on a bride. The scalloped edges and almost t-shirt like design of the blouse make it a trendy choice for the fashion concious bride.
Urmila Matondkar

Can one put what a famous actress wore to her wedding on a best dressed list? I don’t see why not 🙂 Urmila Matondkar looked pretty in her bridal red Manish Malhotra lehenga!
