I’ve cribbed a ton during this season of fashion weeks. “Uninspiring” “disappointing” – I’ve hurled all sorts of adjectives at them. Compared to the rest of them, Amazon India Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2016 line was not half-bad. I’m not calling it exciting for brides, because there was (as expected) a very limited offering for wedding wear. But I still want to keep you abreast with the best of what AIFW had to offer to kick off our 2016 wardrobe, and there are a few pointers in here for the fashion-conscious bride.
As always, we went through every single outfit with a fine-toothed comb, and picked out our favourites from the 30+ shows that took place at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016. Here are the 20 pieces we loved, even if it was a soft and slow kind of love instead of a fiery raging one.

These 2 silk lehengas by Sanjay Garg
His show was a FAVOURITE! Although the designs were similar to what we’ve seen from him earlier this year, I still loved it. These are great picks for your smaller functions, although…you know me 🙂 I’d love to see a bride wear that red lehenga to her wedding, and the blue lehenga for a Sangeet!

They’re all from Sanjay Garg’s show, and you can see why it was such a favourite for brides. The jewel tones, the gorgeous silk! I’d LOVE to have ALL FOUR in my trousseau. And yes, I hadn’t realised I could lust after gold and black this bad.
For those of you who’d like to know, Mashru silk has been used in these garments. From what I read up on it, it is now created as a silk-cotton mix, and that’s probably why this was part of a Spring/Summer collection. It should (hopefully!) be comfortable to wear during a variety of seasons.
These 4 Semi-Formal Saris

These are work-wear saris. I know, you’re wrinkling up your nose thinking “ugh, who has the time or inclination to wear a sari to work?! I’m not 50!” But I’m just letting you know – I’ve been spotting these young girls in their 20s carry off saris like rock-stars at fashion-related events, and I’ve had major outfit-envy. So if you’re someone who is on the brink of experimenting with a cool sari to work, go for it 🙂 And if you’re one of these cool people who already wear saris to work sometimes, here are a few more choices to pick from! Of course, leave that chantilly lace recommendation outside the office.
For ideas on how to style saris like these, see what Pernia Qureshi & Archana Jain (striped blouse!) wore to AIFW here.
These 4 Dresses for Work by Eka

Most of these are casual dresses, that I’d love to wear to work, honestly. So while you go around getting a new work wardrobe to wear after your wedding, try adding a dress or two along these lines to help you breeze through the summer in style.
2 Honeymoon Dresses & A Swimsuit
The cute white dress to roam around during the day, and the bridal red dress for a dinner date with the new husband 🙂 The black Shivan & Narresh swimsuit was the only one we liked at AIFW, but it was worth a mention for the diagonal peek-a-boo. A definite sexy swimsuit to throw in your honeymoon suitcase.
This 1 Sherwani for the Groom
Bright colours, AND a generous dose of gold motifs? That’s typically a big no-no for grooms in my mind, but I think if you are built like this model, you’ll carry it off. I seriously love this Siddartha Tytler sherwani – it’s gold and red done right for men.
