Have you been watching Jhalak Dikhla Ja Reloaded? I’m only watching it to watch Shahid Kapoor. But while gazing at that adorable smile, I also noticed how much the dancing has improved. Considering this was the very first show of the season, it’s unbelievable how amazing some of the choreography and dance already is! I cannot wait to catch the rest of it.
While I’ve just heard that Shahid might only judge the first 8 episodes, I can’t be sure if that will really happen. I sure hope not! I’ve been depending on Jhalak to keep me from falling into post-wedding blues now that Shahid’s wedding festivities have wrapped up. Yes, that’s right. It’s over, people. The show’s over. And it’s surprising how depressing it is. I will miss all the excitement – What will Mira wear? Which designer will create the outfit? How will Shahid look? Although that last one is a stupid question. Obviously, he will look good. He’s Shahid!
Last evening, I sat one final time with my laptop, refreshing the Twitter feed for #ShahidKiShaadi and #ShahidMiraReception every 2 minutes. As I scanned for pictures of Shahid & Mira, some images of the venue began to make their way online.
And slowly, but surely, the wedding guests started trickling in. My favourites of the night were…
Kangana Ranaut
Doesn’t she look fabulous? The floral print sari is uplifted to wedding guest style perfection with that neckpiece.
Preity Zinta
Surprisingly, I liked how she looked. A LOT. She carried off that bright pink from head to toe look pretty damn well! Obviously, it was a Manish Malhotra sari.
Dia Mirza
We LOVE her here, and although that peach outfit doesn’t photograph so well, she looked absolutely stunning in the video. The hairstyle, those earrings and pairing green jewellery with a peach outfit – a great combination!
Shahid’s Brother
Ishaan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor’s brother, looked dapper in his tux. I love the fabric pattern!
The other celebrities who came down to celebrate with Shahid included Genelia Deshmukh, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Masaba Gupta, Shraddha Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and the Big B himself – Amitabh Bachchan!
That’s all!
I honestly thought the whole of B-town will descend on this reception, but only a few turned up. Finally, after waiting for what felt like 5 hours (but was really just 2), we got a glimpse of Shahid & Mira entering Palladium Hotel.
Mira had her hair swept to the side, and put on Nirav Modi jewellery to accessorise her Manish Malhotra lehenga. That floral lehenga is from the designer’s latest collection – Blue Runway, and while Mira looked super pretty (because she IS!) and modern, a lot of people online commented on how she didn’t look like a bride. I believe that’s only because we have a certain definition of what a bride “should” look like. I’m actually glad Mira didn’t dissolve into the background as yet another overdone Bollywood bride. And isn’t your reception the only time you can truly experiment with a different kind of look?
Shahid, of course, looked handsome in his Kunal Rawal designed tuxedo.
I want to leave you with this image..
…of Mira, a 21-year-old girl who just graduated with a degree in English (Hons) from LSR college in New Delhi, standing with her Bollywood star of a husband, greeting one of the legends of Indian cinema at her wedding reception party thrown at one of the fanciest locations in all of Mumbai, and this is about to become a regular Sunday evening for her.
It just…blows my mind. Yours?

Mira definitely is the most adorable bride I’ve seen lately. And I’m glad that she didn’t go all out with the bling, and kept her look fresh, minimal and chic. Her outfit looked very reception-worthy. And, I’m blown away by that pic with Big B too! 🙂

Mira had it so simple and beautiful all along. Loved her simplistic style. Unlike the over-dressed, overwhelming sense of style. I also liked the fact that the wedding was such an intimate affair. So what if its a celebrity wedding? Weddings are also private and intimate things 🙂
