3 months of painstakingly planning the next 1 hour to perfection was about to come together.
The stage was set, and over 300 chairs had been placed before it for the guests to enjoy the spectacle. As promised, Nazneen and her team had run the vibrant Mehendi theme through the second-tier of the garden at Madhuli Apartments.
At 5.30 pm, right on schedule, the Brij Holi began.
The troop from Rajasthan performed their dramatic dance. The incarnation of Radha & Krishna were showered with rose petals that had been brought in to Mumbai all the way from Madras.
The bride and groom arrived on stage, and so unraveled the most breath-taking sight any guest had ever seen at a Mumbai wedding – rose petals floated in the blue sky, softly landing on the bride’s radiant face and open arms, submerging her and her future husband with a shower of blessings from their loved ones.
Joe set the final scene in motion,
with a quick nudge to the performers to go surround the bride and dance around her. He positioned himself, and watched as Shonan joined them and twirled and twirled. Not just to the sound of the music that emanated through the evening sky, but also to the rhythm of a hundred souls celebrating her special day with her.
5 minutes later, the light had died. The sky was pitch dark, and Joe had managed to capture what was one of the most spectacular moments from Shonan & Adesh’s wedding. 60 kgs of rose petals were used that night. 8000 pictures were clicked. The decorators, photographers, performers, family and friends had all come together and created absolute magic. And the bride? She went home with a funny feeling that this was a preview of what was to come – a spectacular wedding and a beautiful new chapter in her life.
