I might as well re-name this post to The Best of Payal Singhal, because hers was the only show I loved completely at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015. For the first time, I loved not just the wearable pieces, but also those statement-making ones that leave you wondering who would wear that off the runway. Yes, I loved those ones too.
I digress.
I absolutely loved only 5 outfits from the entire 5 day fashion week. Only 5 that I would wear myself and highly recommend to brides to be. Most of them are from Payal Singhal’s show. There were also a few others I liked, but did not love crazily enough to put in my top picks – I’ll curate those and upload them onto a Facebook album for you to view later on this evening. Edit: The Facebook album that contains 13 of the best outfits from AIFW is up now!
For now, here are my top 5.
The Best of the Best
A decadent Payal Singhal lehenga. The stone grey, the delicate floral embroidery in gold – it screams “make way for the fabulous bride”!
Where to wear? Without a doubt, your Reception.
Another beautiful Payal Singhal outfit – a gown that’s fit for a princess.
Where to wear? Your Engagement or Reception.
Like I said, most of my top 5 are from Payal Singhal’s show and this is the third one. The lace reminds me of the kind of work Shehla Khan does, but Payal works it right with a sari just as well. This is one I don’t mind wearing, minus that blouse though. I’d want to add another shade to the ensemble to brighten it up just a little bit.
Where to wear? For your trousseau to wear post-wedding.
First of all, ignore the blouse. Bring your attention to just the sari. It’s pretty, isn’t it? The bright colour, and the almond blossom print on the border – it’s so simple, and that’s all it takes to make it fantastic. I almost missed this pretty piece because of all that floral extravaganza on the top. Like I said, just focus on the sari.
Where to wear? For your trousseau! Me wants too. Me gets? *runs off to find the price*
I don’t do capes. And I don’t like the high-low trend. And yet, I find myself drawn to this Kavita Bhartia dress. It looks so comfortable, and that embroidered pattern is so pretty, and it’s in pale blue – my favourite colour for over 2 years now! I just want to get into this and head to work.
Where to wear? Your office. Or brunch. Or fashion week. Wherever. It’s all good.
Oh wow! I like the first few with the modern understated colours. A nice change from the usual bright colours.
