I’ve been staring at my laptop continuously for the last 5 days non-stop. Lakme Fashion Week just wrapped up last night, and with all the live-streaming on YouTube and press releases in my inbox, I’m just about ready to go on vacation now. A vacation from my laptop. For, like, a day. Because Amazon India Fashion Week starts in 2 days. Ah, the relaxed blogger life :p
I’ve already written about my favourite show from all of LFW this season: Anushree Reddy. But the other designers weren’t far behind with drool-worthy outfits. Of course, I went through videos and pictures of all 45 shows to save you some precious time you can now utilize on more important things – like planning your wedding, going for a run, watching the latest Grey’s Anatomy episode…whatever floats your boat, really.
Typically, I would put ALL the outfits in one post, but I have a feeling the load time for a post with THAT many pictures would be really, really slow. So I’ve split it up into a couple of posts. In part 1 of the best of LFW series, only the prettiest saris and suits make their debut straight off the runway onto your screens.
The Best Saris

I’m a new Anamika Khanna fan, and this sari is as classy and elegant as they get. The blouse style is something that seems to be catching on these days, but I’m not really into it. It does go well with the sari, though, so you can give it a try at your Reception.
Where to wear? Your Parsi wedding 🙂 Don’t they wear white saris on their big day? Of course, this one’s also a keeper for your trousseau.
I loved this Anavilla sari because of the colours – I’m a die hard pale blue fan. It’s too earthy to really wear anywhere, so pair it with a different blouse and definitely drape it the “normal” way to make it party-worthy.
Where to wear? Any day function at your best friend’s or cousin’s wedding.
This Frou Frou sari is just – cute, and so “young”! Loved the soft shades.
Where to wear? Any function at your best friend’s or cousin’s wedding.
Another pretty pick for your trousseau! This one’s by Marg by Soumitra, who stole our hearts at LFW’s last edition as well (picked as one of the top 10 shows).
Where to wear? Any function at your best friend’s or cousin’s wedding.
All three saris are from Mandira Bedi’s show. Honestly, I’ve NOT really liked any of her work till date. But this time around, finally, she actually had a fair share of pretty saris. They’re basic and simple, but maybe that’s what makes them good picks for your trousseau.
Where to wear? These versatile beauties can be worn to anyone’s wedding and to even those post-wedding dinner parties you’ll have to attend as a newlywed.

The Best Suits & Anarkalis

Nita Ambani looked a class apart in this Anamika Khanna suit. This is such a beautiful treasure for your trousseau.
Where to wear? Anywhere as a newlywed – lunches, pujas, family dinners, or even to work!
Ridhi Mehra wowed with her use of soft shades and flattering silhouettes, with just the right amount of embroidery and bling. LOVE this blush pink anarkali/suit with her signature style draping. It’s super feminine, and versatile! I’m a big fan, and this is yet another one I’d love to see in my cupboard.
Where to wear? Your Engagement or Reception, your best friend’s wedding, or your sibling’s Sangeet – I told you, this is a versatile one!
A simple suit for your trousseau – this is another one from Marg by Soumitra.
Where to wear? Your friend’s roka, or those dinner parties we were talking about.
Is this an anarkali or a suit? Either way, throw on a pair of ivory churidars or pants underneath this Manish Malhotra outfit, and you’re ready to attend your friend’s Reception. Not that you’d spend so much on your FRIEND’S reception, but I’m just saying…
Where to wear? Buy it for your trousseau, and then wear it anywhere you’re supposed to be formally dressed. To dinner parties if you want to be the style-statement-making newlywed, or to someone else’s Cocktail party or Reception (as a wedding guest).
Up next…The Best Lehengas at LFW Summer Resort 2015!
definitely what jack is wearing.. she looks stunning. The work on the saree is so subtle and the cape sheer blouse is a must this season. A very good compilation Shinjini.

Hi shinjini
Need an honest opinion. Though i love the cape trend. I don’t know how to pull it off. I have been thinking of trying it in contrast color with my lehenga for a winter wedding. Or else over a saree gown. Whatsay?
