Anushree Reddy at Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2015

I haven’t done one of these in some time now. An entire post on a single designer’s collection from Fashion Week. And to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to this month. Lakme Fashion Week is on in Mumbai right now, and I’ve been combing through images from all shows without much hope. For a bride, India Couture Week and India Bridal Fashion Week are filled to the brim with trousseau options – but Lakme Fashion Week’s Summer Resort edition? The chances are slimmer than Deepika’s waist in Happy New Year.

There was one show though, that I was really looking forward to – Anushree Reddy’s. I’ve been a fan since she debuted her first collection just a short while ago, and for my best friend’s wedding we even had a lehenga by Anushree Reddy shortlisted for her Sangeet look! What I love most about her work is how she keeps the embroidery and general heaviness of the outfit towards the yoke, and leaves the lehenga light. And of course, her colour palette is loved by every young bride and even wedding guest. She’s exactly what us girls in our 20s need whether we’re attending someone else’s wedding, or our own!

We’d gotten a taste of Anushree’s new colour palette here, and I could hardly wait to see all the rest of it. Am I glad I spent Saturday morning witnessing this amazing show! On YouTube, of course 🙂

Fresh off the runway, these are my favourites from Anushree Reddy’s show that just got done a couple of hours ago.

TDB’s Picks

The colours, that stunning floral print (with peacocks!) – I loved everything about this lehenga. It’s subtle, with a tinge of bling at the border and on the blouse. Major USP – you can pair that heavy blouse with a dozen other lehengas and saris.

Where to wear? Your Sangeet, if you really want to stand out. Or, to your best friend’s wedding.

This is one of the heavier ones from the show. A little blingy, but still amazing. And I love how the blush pink adds a touch of colour to the ensemble.

Where to wear? Your Engagement, Sangeet or Reception. As long as someone allows the bride to wear white (when are we getting over this 1000 year old tradition, by the way?) I wouldn’t recommend this for a wedding guest, as it’s a little too heavy for a guest; unless you’re the bride or groom’s sister.

The skirt, with its large motifs, is Anushree’s signature style of lehenga. Nothing we haven’t seen before. But paired with the star-sprinkled lavender blouse, it’s a refreshing new take that I loved!

Where to wear? Your Sangeet or Reception. Definitely a very pretty option for a grand Reception.

A raw silk lehenga with a touch of embroidery on its border and blouse, and a hint of pink peeking from underneath the skirt? This is exacty the kind of lehenga that floats my boat.

Where to wear? Your best friend’s summer wedding. Or your sibling’s Sangeet!
