I went to the Tarun Tahiliani Couture Exposition last week. Followed by a visit to the Tarun Tahiliani stall at the Vogue Wedding Show. Followed by Tarun Tahiliani’s show that opened India Bridal Fashion Week last night.
There is SO much Tarun Tahiliani coming your way this month, so if you’re not a big fan – I apologise in advance. Although, who isn’t a fan?
I’ll admit, I don’t like 80% of what he creates. But that 20% is so spot on, so incredible, that I can’t not talk about him.
Let’s just get to last night’s show, shall we?
The one thing I can say for sure after yesterday’s show is – for brides, gold is the new red. Tarun Tahiliani has created the quintessential Gold Bride.
Gold decadence, but not the big, chunky kind. A splatter of soft, subtle shimmer, instead.
Wondering what the heck I’m talking about? Have a look for yourselves.
TDB’s Picks
The first of two outfits I fell head over heels in love with and would do, literally, anything to own or even wear just once! It was SO beautiful. It was the same anarkali all of you gave a lot of love to on Instagram last week. Adorned by Sonalika Sahay at Tarun Tahiliani Couture Exposition, this one is definitely one of the best from his collection this season. Good to know: it’s practically weightless so it WON’T weigh you down.
Where to wear? PERFECT for your Engagement, or if you’re throwing a really big Roka. You can also wear it to any big event you attend as a newlywed.
Another stunning gold anarkali. Love the flower bootis all over the outfit, the layering and the capped sleeves. Let’s not forget the cuff detail! Makes the need for bangles redundant. What’s not to love?
Where to wear? Your Engagement/Roka. To your friend/relative’s wedding.
A truly decadent gold lehenga. Splattered in gold from head to toe.
Where to wear? This one is worthy only of your wedding or Reception. Yes, be a gold bride. I told you na, gold is the new red!
This one may look simple, but it was one of the most simply beautiful outfits of the night. When the model sashayed down the ramp in this, the gold border of the suit flowed like a river of gold. I want to own this. I will wear it 30 times (a more than average wear time for a formal Indian suit). I swear! Just give it to me, TT. Hand it over and no one gets hurt. I promise.
Where to wear? Anywhere, yaar. Your yaar ki shaadi, your cousin’s Engagement, to a party as a newlywed. Basically, as a guest to any wedding event.
The second outfit I fell in LOVE with. Blush pink, bright multi-coloured borders – SO many borders. It’s the best kind of decadence! The maroon blouse has grown on me over time (I first saw this at the Vogue Wedding Show last week), so now I don’t mind it.
Now I want you to pause for a moment and just look at how beautiful it is. LOOK!
*long sigh of admiration*
Where to wear? Your day wedding, your Sangeet, your Reception. Truly a bride’s lehenga. A sister of the bride/groom could also pull this off though, since it IS light enough. Check with the bride AND groom though before you pick this up, to ensure their outfits are heavier than this.
Worth A Mention
These huge jhumkas were too good to go unnoticed. As was that beautiful jhoomar. They deserved a mention in this post!
And TT continues to amaze with the beautiful blouses he manages to create.
The Remaining Collection
I picked the best of the rest, and made a gallery of them for you. I realise that you can’t Pin images from Galleries easily, so I’m putting up these pieces on my Pinterest board for Fashion Week Outfits – you can access them there!

Hi Jasmine, this is a Tarun Tahiliani outfit. You can get in touch with his team at any store and ask them if they will make it for you in anarkali form.
