I was in Bangalore last month for Trousseau Week, where I covered the wedding exhibition and created a Bride’s Guide for those of you who wanted to visit it. The night before the exhibition began, UB City was filled to the brim with people attending the Trousseau Week fashion show. Of course, we’ve got you all the action from the front row! Well, not exactly front-front. More like, front-side 🙂

I attended the fashion show on 21st November, with my husband in tow. He was finally not behind the lens (the organisers were nice enough to share all the pictures) so he got to enjoy the fashion show the way one is meant to! Although, him being a boy and all, I’m not sure how much he’s interested in pretty anarkalis & lehengas 😐

The fashion show used the staircase & escalators of the mall as their ramp –

It got really crowded at the base of the staircase, but we fought through to get a good look at the clothes. Kimaya, Turquoise & Gold, Avirate, Hackett and Chola were some of the designer-houses that showcased their collection. As did Tarun Tahiliani! His piece was the showstopper at the end of the show. Most of the jewellery was by AS Motiwala, whose current collection I am totally in love with! Opulent, princess-worthy diamond and emerald jewellery that comes with a hefty price tag, of course.

Most of my top picks are Kimaya pieces. I’ve taken quite a liking to this multi-designer store (go check out the pretty anarkalis I tried out at their store in this post), and these are my favourite outfits from the show.

I’m sure my limited enthusiasm shows through in the post. That’s because there was very little that blew me away during this show. The jewellery by AS Motiwala, the green Chola ensemble and the happiness at getting to see that heavy red bridal lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani were the high points for me, that got me truly jumping-off-my-metaphorical-seat excited (we were standing throughout the show). Trousseau Week has showed a better collection in the past years, or maybe those were closer to my personal tastes. But the show was still an experience in itself, and I’m really glad I got to check out so many wedding vendors and try on pretty outfits during the exhibition the next day. Bangalore, as usual, was an absolute treat! I’ve only ever been on super short trips to this city, but every single time I’ve wished I could stay a while longer. Until next time!
