Back with another Makeup Artist recommendations post for you. This time, the query has come in from Ludhiana!

Do you know of a good Makeup Artist in Ludhiana?

The only one I’ve heard of is Harjinder aka Latto (am I spelling it right?) of Lakme Salon. Mehak of Peaches & Blush blog highly recommends her, and I also like the work she’s done on this bride on her wedding day.

    2. Hi, I would like to share my feedback about Prerna Khullar. I hired her for my cousin’s wedding just two days ago and as much as we were happy with her work, we were doubly disappointed and annoyed about her attitude towards work and her level of professionalism which i would rate to be zero or rather negative.

      Here are a few highlights of our experience working with Prerna Khullar:

      – I called her 2 days before the wedding to ask her what all she needs from our end so we have that ready on the day. She said costume, jewellery and shoes. On the day of the wedding after make up, we asked her to change the nail paint. And she said thats not included in the package. CAN YOU BEAT THAT. Paying 45k for a bridal and nail paint not included in the package. Even if i understand that, she should have atleast informed us in advance when we hired her or when i called her to check what all is needed from out end. Luckily i had a pink nail paint which didn’t match with the bride’s peach lehnga but we had no choice. Her assistant told us later, one of her bride had to go without a nailpaint.

      – Further, we allowed her to click pics based on the trust and understanding that she will not forward or share or publish it online on fb, insta or twitter or anywhere. She went ahead and posted that the very next day and when i got in touch with her, she refused to take them off and this was her reply “Pics once on can’t be taken off”. Seriously? She had the audacity to say this, it amazed me. THIS IS UNETHICAL, BREACH TO OUR PRIVACY. She came back and said “This is a norm of working with me”. YOU DIDN”T TELL THIS TO US IN ADVANCE or RATHER HAVE US SIGN A CONTRACT before hiring you.

      – She charged us 45k for HD Airbrush and refused to do non airbrush simple 30k package saying it will peel off. We couldn’t afford 45k but she left us with no option. On the day of wedding, she chose to do a normal make-up, no airbrush and she didn’t even speak with us or give us a refund for downgrading the package we payed for. She takes all the money in advance which was new to me. She charged another 1000 bucks for changing the duppata and wasn’t willing on doing that coz she would have to wait 30 mins for that. Thankfully her assistant who is actually a freelance agreed on waiting and doing that for us. We were very thankful to her assistant Kavita and paid her extra for her help.

      Prerna’s work is IMPECCABLE and there is no doubt about that. I would myself recommend her for that. Only if she knew the ABC of Customer Service and Experience, she wouldn’t restrict her growth opportunities. Anyone who works with her please be prepared to face her arrogance, unethical and unprofessional behavior. She made our whole experience very very regretful and stressful.

      1. I had exactly the same experience with Preena, I had booked her for my wedding and reception make up and she was completely and utterly Rude and horrible. She was late and unprofessional she made my entire experience of being relaxed and calm and happy on my wedding day and made it into a highly stressful one. She is absolutely revolting in her attitude and I actually do believe she needs a mental examination and she behaves like she has multiple mental issues. She had come with her mother and even spoke to her own mother so rude and disgusting. I think she has deep mental issues and needs to seriously get professional help she is a horrible human being

      2. I wish I had shared this earlier, but I guess it’s never too late! I got married in November 2014, and every bride I see after that reminds me of Prerna Khullar (Prerna Khullar – Makeup Artist)! I must say I was a fan of her work after I saw the pictures on her Facebook page. She was “The One” I wanted to hire for my make-up even after I knew she was way beyond my budget for my wedding make-up.
        ❤ Our First Call ❤:
        The first time I called her, she told me about the different packages she was offering. The three bridal packages she mentioned were:
        1. HD (high-definition) make-up: 35,000 rupees
        2. Airbrush make-up: Around 40,000 rupees (Don’t exactly remember the price for this one)
        3. HD with airbrush make up: 50,000 rupees
        Even the 1st package seemed expensive for me but I was still thinking about it since this was something I really wanted. I asked her what the different packages were and what would be the best for me. She recommended the most expensive option (although I had a pretty clear skin) and that option according to her was supposed to give the maximum coverage for people who do not have a clear skin. Right after her very brief description about the packages, she told me she needs 50% in advance right away to be able make the booking. For a trial, she would charge 5,000 rupees. The first 4 minute call we had was 3 minutes about money and may be 1 minute of what kind of service she provides.
        I was very disappointed with her attitude. For somebody who is in a profession that has the power to make a girl feel the most beautiful girl in the world, money just comes. What mattered most to me was to look the best on my wedding day and I thought she was the best person to do that.
        ⏳Fast Forward – 🕐1 🕑2 🕒 3 months:
        Even though I was disappointed with her attitude, I made up my mind to choose her for my wedding day. After 3 months of our first phone interaction, I was ready to spend 50K for the “HD with airbrush make-up” package. I called her to make the booking and she began to drool with a “I’ll text you my bank details” reply. But, ladies and gentlemen, Terms & Conditions apply (tadaaaa!):
        • Artifical Eye-lashes: 1,000 rupees
        • Travel to Rohtak (venue for my wedding): 6,000
        • Hotel stay: 3,000 rupees
        That was another 10K after it took me 3 months to make up my mind for 50K. But this time, I did not want to take time and wanted to just finalize my make-up artist.
        Just before making the 50% advance payment (which was 25,000, pretty much what others charged for the entire package), I wanted to make sure of what all was covered in the package I chose. Her response to “my inquiries” was – “I have already explained you all the packages, I don’t have time to go over it all over again. Give me a call when you are ready to book”. That was the day I should have made the right decision, but God knows why I still chose her!
        💃The most important day of my life💄💅👠:
        On my wedding day, an hour before she arrived, she informed me that she was unable to book a hotel room, and that she was accompanied by her hair stylist and mom. She asked me if I could make arrangements for their stay at the hotel that we were staying in. Although we did not have an extra room, I did not say no as I did not want 3 ladies to face any trouble in an unfamiliar city. My uncle and aunt vacated the room, and moved in with my cousins so that Prerna (and two others) could stay in that room.
        She arrived fairly on time, and then started the make-up. Half-way through the make-up, I realized she did not use anything that seemed like an “airbrush”. Unfamiliar with how and when an airbrush is really used, I asked her if “airbrush” is something that is used towards the end of the make-up. Her reply was, “Sweety, your skin doesn’t need it. I already used the HD (high-definition) make-up, which is best suited for your skin. And it’s the same price!” (how kind of her?). I was shocked!
        I did not want to have another argument and spoil my day, that too after my make-up was almost done and I was all dressed up as a bride.
        💰A rip off💰!
        Now, it was time to pay her the remaining balance, another 25K for the make-up and the “miscellaneous” costs (eye lashes, travel, and hotel stay). Since I took care of her hotel stay, I was expecting to pay 7K (10k minus 3k for hotel). Madam said, “No, Sweety, I mentioned 9K for the travel to Rohtak, and 1k for eye lashes”. That was the time I could have lost my patience, but I still let her go only because it was my wedding day. I paid her the balance that she did not deserve AT ALL!
        About the make-up, nothing extraordinary that you would pay 60K for! Not even close to the work done by Gursewak Singh on my engagement, a day before the wedding.
        🏆Give credit where it’s due🎖:
        I wish I had booked Gursewak Singh ( Guru Makeup Artist) who did a wonderful job on the day of my engagement. From the very beginning, he was great to talk to. He took the time to meet me and explain everything that he would do (make-up and hair). That’s something you would want to pay for! But he is not someone who would charge an exorbitant amount of money for his extraordinary work.

  3. Hey !! I also wanted to hire Harjinder for my wedding but I think she is not working in India anymore..sigh 😦 !! Prerna Khullar is awesome..I think she is the best I have found till date in her business.. only if I could afford her…she is way too expensive !!

    1. You like Prerna’s makeup then copy her style. Practice and there you go. Do your own make up. I did it and couldnot have been happier with the results.

        I am getting married in Nov this year.Though I stayed at Mumbai but getting married in Haryana(Rohtak).I will be going there only 1 week in advance, quiet tensed about MUA.Do you know any good makeup artist in Rohtak(only for bridal function).There is this Evolve saloon but dnt have any idea about their work.Or sum1 who can travel from delhi(budget nt more than 10k).

    1. sorry i had replied to the query for ludhiana mua.she charges around 12 k for engagement n not sure for wedding.but these rates are of a few years back might have increased.

  8. Hii fellow brides…i am from ldh…. Honey from Honey and Peaches is too good(it is a parlour/salon in raj guru nagar. she ll do a bful job.. no bling no shimmer.. sophisticated job. my cousin got her make up done from her and i was stunned to see her… she was transformed into such a bful face i couldn’t believe my eyes. She uses all kryolan etc. highly recommended.

    In Ludhiana for wedding i recommend grace but you need to be careful a bit that she will do each and every thing , she works with air brush also.I found her very good with eye makeup.Workers at her parlour are not good at all , you need to take care what you want exactly . In Chandigarh there are few make up artist who work for modelling and Bollywood also.One is micky , he uses krylon products and he pretty good in his work. And yes last but not the least prerna khullar , but she is very expensive.But she use very awesome products and awesome work also.

  10. Grace in Ludhiana is really awful. Her staff is very unprofessional and doesnt listen to what you want. On average she works on 10 brides at the same time and hardly do anything herself. No consultation at all. I had very bad experience with her on my engagement. I will not recommend Grace at all. My makeup came off within an hour. Really poor work.

Hi girls..i recently got married in December. .my MUA was Mr manoj kumar ..He is a little expensive but not as expensive as prerna …i have seen prerna s work as well but when I compare the two manoj is very experienced. .He does makeup for a lot of models and a lot of fashion shows as well..He is a little slow but flawless work..

    I am from Gurgaon and I am getting married in Shimla in August this year. Only decent saloon I can find in Shimla is tangles but I am satisfied with it. And I am still looking for some good makeup artists in Shimla, or someone who can travel from Chandigarh or near by. Its really important for me and I cant find anything on internet. Please help me out here.

    1. Hi everyone,
      I ended up doing my own make up and was very happy with the result. I would recommend that you take some lessons or try some looks yourself. Buy specific products. I went to a MAC counter and bought primer, foundation etc. Base is the most imp thing. Make sure you know what you are going to do before hand and dont experiment on the day!

  14. PRERNA KHULLAR IS THE MOST ARROGANT MAKEUP ARTIST I HAVE SEEN. SHE IS FULL OF “ATTITUDE”. FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, SHE IS VERY RUDE AND GREEDY. ALL SHE WANTS AT THE END OF THE DAY IS HER MONEY AND SHE IS DONE. SHE DOESN’T LIKE IT WHEN YOU TELL HER TO CORRECT SOMETHING. VERY VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. AT FIRST, SHE WILL BE VERY NICE TO YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE CONSIDERING HIRING HER BUT ONCE HER WORK IS DONE, SHE BECOMES A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON. SHE WILL BE NICE TO YOU AS LONG AS YOU LIKE HER WORK.

    SHE TRIES TO COPY OTHER MAKE UP ARTISTS FROM ABROAD BUT TRUST ME, SHE CAN NEVER COPY THEM. SHE CAN NEVER REACH THEIR LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM. SHE SAYS SHE DOESN’T DO THIS JOB FOR MONEY, BUT MONEY IS THE ONLY THING SHE’S CONCERNED ABOUT.

    SHE HAS CHANGED HER RATES TO DOUBLE IN 1 YEAR WHICH IS VERY SHOCKING BECAUSE SHE HASN’T REACHED THAT LEVEL OF PERFECTIONISM AND PROFESSIONLISM YET. SHE’S VERY SLOW AT HER JOB. MADE ME CRY ON MY WEDDING DAY BECAUSE FIRST SHE GOT ME LATE AND SECOND SHE “CAKED UP” MY FACE AND I LOOKED LIKE A GHOST.

    SHE IS FAMOUS BECAUSE OF THE WAY SHE PORTRAYS HERSELF ON FACEBOOK AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA. OTHER THAN THAT, SHE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER MAKEUP ARTIST.

    HER PICTURES ON FACEBOOK LOOK GOOD BECAUSE SHE CLICKS THEM IN SO MUCH LIGHTING.

    THE ONLY THING SHE KNOWS IS KIM KARDASHIAN EYE MAKEUP. LOL …… ALTHOUGH SHE CLAIMS THAT SHE CAN DO AIRBRUSH, SHE DOESN’T KNOW SHIT ABOUT AIRBRUSH!

    I WOULD RECOMMEND HIRING A DIFFERENT MAKEUP ARTIST EITHER AT THE SAME RATE AS PRERNA OR LESS BECAUSE HIRING PRERNA WOULD BE A WASTE OF MONEY.

    DON’T BE FOOLED BY HER FACEBOOK PICTURES. IT TOOK ME A YEAR TO WRITE THIS COMMENT BUT I DID NOT WANT TO WRITE ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT HER BECAUSE SHE WAS NEW IN THE INDUSTRY TRYING TO ESTABLISHING HERSELF, BUT I GUESS IT’S HIGH TIME I SHOULD SAY SOMETHING BECAUSE SHE IS FOOLING A LOT OF PEOPLE.   18. I got my roka makeup done from Mehak kawatra makeup artist who is a freelancer in ludhiana itself ! she did a great job and i was really satisfied with her work ..!!unlike other makeup artists she has got a taste of her own !

  19. Hi! i got my makeup done from Prerna Khullar for my big day which took place in Punjab. i looked at her photos on Facebook and decided to hire her. To be honest you DO NOT need Prerna Khullar ! i did not find her doing any exceptional work. she charges for Airbrushed makeup but does not have them in her kit. she hires an assistant to do hair which was a big fail . it was the worst bun somebody has ever created on me.GIRLS BE AWARE OF PRERNA KHULLAR . YOU DONOT NEED HER !!! ALL SHE WANTS IS MONEY AND THATS ALL!

  20. ABOUT PRERNA KHULLAR MAKE UP ARTIST FROM JALANDHAR
    A highly unprofessional and arrogant lady….My SISTER went for a bridal make up to her on 17th February and experienced a most rude and unbecoming behavior from Prerna Khullar. She did not like the lipstick being used on her and Prerna refused to change that for her and threatened midway that she could walk off. And that after charging a whopping Rs.75000/- for which she gave no receipts and evaded taxes. She spoke to her very rudely and even made her cry. Such bad behaviour with a bride to be. Shame on you PRERNA!!!
    Please be aware of her people and don’t waste your time and money on her.

    1. I am coming to Chandigarh for my reception and was looking for a good make up artist. I came across Prerna on Instagram and saw her skills were pretty good and decided I wanted to definitely hire her but reading these comments on this page and looking at how ridiculous her rates are I think I will pass and find someone else. I am sorry but 75,000 to hire her plus 10,000 for her to come another city is a barbaric price and since I am from the USA that converts to over $1,000 😱. In the USA with that kind of money no make up artist charges you that unless your Kim Kardashians make artist.

        Shahid Naaz he’s from Amritsar very good makeup artist…I am from ludhiana So I called him to find out how much he will charge for wedding and reception he said 1.70lac for both day….r u fu..K kidding me
