On Day 2, Rina Dhaka’s show was followed by Jyotsna Tiwari’s. Which kind of saved the whole show. With western wear in their desi blinged out avatar, it was something new and different. Bright raw silk dresses & gowns, multi-coloured blouses, crop tops and peplums on lehengas – it truly was a desi-western fusion line. And I insist you go through the pictures under “The Remaining Collection” section as well. A lot of those outfits were also stand out pieces, with tops on lehengas that could most certainly be teamed with a pair of pants! And don’t even get me started on the pencil pants – Jyotsna Tiwari made them look goooood! I want a pair now.
TDB’s Picks
I really liked the multi-coloured blouse and the solid colour lehenga with a neutral border. Throw on a dupatta and you’re ready for most functions of your wedding – from mehendi to sangeet to reception, this look is good enough for all! And the best part about it? It can be teamed with another blouse for a new look, and this multi-coloured blouse will look great with most of your saris!

Loved the lehenga on the left! The bright colour and the broad border make it perfect for your Mehendi, or even Sangeet!
This sari is so Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani! So cocktail party-esque! Love the blue and love the blouse – what more do you need?

Showstopper
Jacqueline Fernandez was the show stopper who walked the ramp in a hot pink strapless dress with slits and gold embroidery, teamed with pencil fit pants. There’s just something about her outfit that is really endearing. Is it the bright shade of pink? Is it the gold embroidery that begins at the waist? Is it the slit? The fact that she paired it with stylish pencil pants? Or that the person wearing it looks insanely pretty and happy? Whatever the reason is, it looked great. And she looked great. Period.
The Official Version
She has a vision to design modern ensembles with ideas driven from Indian culture and to have an outcome which is contemporary in nature. Jyotsana Tiwari showcased her collection- ELOHIM in the second part of the show on Day 2. She counted on her source of inspiration like colours, fun and festivities around the wedding for her collection in the India Bridal week, 2013. The idea was to present classic silhouettes amalgamated with international trends with the incorporation of fine tailoring and to present a very occasion oriented collection. She visions Indian bride as someone who is chic yet traditional and is happy to wear a light weight, fun clothing during her wedding functions. One of the noteworthy ensembles was a fitted bodice in silk and embroidered in gold with a leafy pattern at front, attached with a flowy net at the bottom, just like any princess dress. There were other too like short fitted dress with sharp cuts and traditional embroidery, and peplum beige long strapless tunic with pencil fit pants which was teamed with a traditional dupatta. The modern version of ‘Khoya Khoya Chaand’ was playing as background music. Another eye catching off-shoulder poncho like beige top over a lehenga was showcased to give an effect of saree but in a modern style. Today’s modern and chic bride would happily carry a brocade bustier with gold work and nude coloured lehenga in soft pink embroidery. The beautiful blend of traditional craft and indo-western silhouettes with ethnic touch resulted in the creation of very modern and international outfits.
