Did you think I was going to talk only about Bridal Wear from Tarun Tahiliani’s couture collection? Not leaving the boys out this time!
Of course, the collection for men was limited. But I still found some that I loved! I tend to enjoy the simpler ones when it comes to menswear. Here they are –
TDB’s Picks
Light gold sherwani

Neither a big fan of the Jamewar shawl, nor of the peeping pleated long kurt a underneath. Just put the boy in the sherwani and let the kurta end where the sherwani ends. This one reminds me of what my husband wore on our wedding, maybe that’s why I’m such a sucker for it. Although his did not have any embroidery, it was just beautiful fabric.
Heavily embroidered creme sherwani

Don’t enjoy heavily embroidered sherwanis but the creme base makes it easy on the eyes. Again, would’ve loved to see it minus the long kurta that’s more than peeping out for from underneath.
Open Nehru jacket & dhoti

I love Nehru jackets! And there’s something about a dhoti that is so endearing on a modern man. The open element to the Nehru jacket adds an edginess to the traditional outfit that I’m seriously loving.
Yet another gold sherwani
I guess I like gold on boys! Steer clear of the Jamewar shawl though, please!
Rest of the Collection
Here are the pictures of the remaining collection for grooms:

Everything Else About The Expo
- Azva was there – you know, the company that has made stunning pieces of jewellery that the brides in WeddingSutra on Location are wearing? You’d know if you’d read Issue #2 of thedelhibride Magazine 🙂 Anyway, Tarun Tahiliani has collaborated with Azva to make some stunning pieces, around the theme of the seven vows of marriage. According to TT, people are wearing bigger and bigger uncut diamond bibs! He wants to bring back gold as it always has intrinsic value and utility. The pieces from this collection will be rolled out across India in time for bridal season i.e. by October.
- As was Forever Mark diamond jewellery. They had some seriously pretty rings on display! According to TT, their diamonds are responsibly sourced and are of really great quality.
- And Swarovski! According to TT, his collection has traditional drapes with traditional embroidery. But they’ve used Swarovski in incredible colours to give it a contemporary look. For crystals, there is no better brand than this. They’ve tried every other possible substitute but never found any. The best thing about Swarovski is that they convey opulence without the bling. I have to agree with that – Swarovski crystals provide a shimmer to your outfits, unlike the strong shine stonework tends to give.
- The food was fantastic. Bite-size snacks, that were spot on in every mouthful! So yum. Should’ve asked who the caterer was.
That’s about it for the Tarun Tahiliani Couture Exposition 2013.
