I wanted to share pictures of my wedding shoes with you. Why? Because I love them, and they cost me a grand total of…
700 rupees!
And they were my dream wedding shoes. JUST what I was looking for.
But how can I talk about them, without telling you the story of how I found them?
Yes, there’s a story behind everything. And if it’s got a dash of drama, then you know I’ve got to tell you all about it!
A few weeks before my wedding, I was having a bride-zilla day. Like, major tantrum-throwing, seriously upset kind of day. Honestly, I don’t even remember now what I was angry about. But what I do remember is this – unfortunately, it was the same day that my sister and my cousin sister had agreed to take me shoe shopping. By the time they arrived, my mood had taken a major beating. I just didn’t want to go out anywhere, just wanted to sit in my room and sulk. They tried, of course. Because that’s what sisters do. They tried to tell me – look, let’s go shopping! It will definitely make you feel better! Come on, it’s only for an hour.
Eventually, they gave up. I was in no mood to budge. But they’re busy girls, who couldn’t just re-schedule the shoe shopping. They only had a couple of hours left till their free time was up. So they did what any sensible sister would – they went shopping by themselves! Of course, to check out Lajpat Nagar on my behalf. And to do a little shoe shopping themselves 🙂
When they got back, they couldn’t stop raving about a place called Stelatoes. They told me – it’s got exactly what you want! Yes, exactly the kind of wedding shoes you’ve been looking for! They, of course, bought shoes for themselves – pretty pairs of heels that did look quite a bit like the shoes I was looking for. It really intrigued me, but what actually got me off my a**? When my sisters said, “They’re for 700 bucks. But they’re selling like hot cakes! You never know when they will run out of them.” The better, action-oriented half of my Bridezilla was awoken. Out with the anger, the time-wasting, the sulking – I was a bride on a mission!
I jumped into the car with my parents, and off we went to Lajpat Nagar! My sisters, unfortunately, couldn’t tag along because that was all the time they had to spare on that day. I entered Stelatoes, and almost immediately spotted the perfect wedding shoes. Asked for my size. They had them, and they fit! The heels were a bit higher than what I had planned to wear (I generally stick to 2-inch heels, max), but what the hell! They were perfect! And you won’t believe what I did after that. I bought the same pair of shoes in two colours – golden, and copper! I never do that! I know that buying the same thing in two colours, be it a t-shirt or a pair of shoes is a silly idea, because you’ll rarely use them then. But, my parents said – go for it! They both look great. The copper would match my wedding lehenga (since the embroidery on my lehenga was copper-ish) and the golden pair would be my back-up shoes for my Sangeet (eventually, I wore the golden ones on my Reception). And they were only for INR 700 – what the heck! I bought both! It was my wedding after all; I was allowed to indulge in a bit of extravagance. If INR 1,400 for two pairs of shoes could be called that 🙂
Supremely happy about having found my wedding shoes, we decided to pay South Ex a visit. You know, to buy a few more pairs of shoes. For my trousseau, of course! You won’t believe how many shoes I shopped for at South Ex – THREE. No jokes. So it was 6 pm, and I had already bought 5 pairs of shoes. I never shop for so many items in a single day! I’m a very picky shopper, buying maybe one piece of something in a whole day’s worth of shopping. But wait, it didn’t end there. We went off to Ansal Plaza, and bought me one more pair of shoes! 6 shoes in a single day!
I finally started to feel like a bride *evil grin*

Hello…. these shoes look lovely ! I am struggling to find nice and comfortable heels for the wedding functions. I am looking for hedges with max 3 inch heel.. any suggestions ?

Try Clark’s – they have the most comfortable shoes, but they are not very bridal looking. So if you don’t mind that bit, do try them out

Heyy I would like to compliment you for your awesome set of blogs. They have made my life easier since I am on my wedding shopping spree too ! and it’s more of a stress to find perfection, than fun !
your shoes…. simply AWESOME !!! Unfortunately my feet are extra small… size 5…even smaller in some brands 😥 , hence the problem of picking the perfect shoes always persists. You won’t believe I picked a similar looking pair of shoes from Steve Madden for 6k only ‘coz they fitted me. I wish I had waited longer :(. I am planning to visit Delhi next weekend for my Trousseau shopping and have already made a note of all shops suggested by you for my wedding and ladies sangeet lehenga and shoes/sandals. Though, I do have a question – how abt durability of these shoes, what if the heels broke? in brands, though expensive, do give that trust ! opinion?

Durability of brands such as Clarks, etc is definitely more trust-worthy than these. Having said that, I have a pair from Lajpat Nagar I bought in 2010, that are super comfortable and I still use! Wore them on my Sangeet in 2012 as well 🙂
