I first saw pictures of Sahiba & Jitin’s wedding on Photo Tantra’s Facebook page, and couldn’t help but fall in love with the bride! From her natural looking makeup, to classy jewellery and beautiful wedding outfit – she makes for a perfect inspiration for brides to be. I wanted to feature her on my blog and so I got in touch with Photo Tantra and eventually, the bride herself! Sahiba was really sweet and shared plenty of details about her wedding to help out fellow brides. Have a look!
First up – a breakdown of Sahiba’s wedding outfits!
Mehendi
“I bought my mehendi outfit from Neelam Soni based in Delhi. I literally saw my outfit 2 days before the function for the first time! Price was INR 1 lakh. She did my whole wedding trousseau so I trusted her taste and left it up to her! My first choice outfit turned out to be a disaster on me so my sister wore my original lime lengha to the function, which looked stunning on her. I’m still very bitter about it! I started the day wearing a pure gold set with the outfit that my mum gave me but then later switched to a multicolored stone set (from a lady named Madhu in Nagpur who does jewellery). I was just going for an overall colorful and funky look since the rest of the wedding functions were so formal.”
I just love how green has been added to the classic yellow and purple combination to bring colour blocking to an Indian outfit. The multi-coloured jewellery and bangles add to the colourful outfit, and those yellow flowers in her hair give the look just the right finishing touch!
Sangeet
“Ritika Mirchandani created my Sangeet outfit – she’s based in Mumbai. You can find her stuff in Aza and Ensemble in Delhi but she doesn’t have a showroom there so I flew to Bombay for fittings, etc. She also did the wedding outfit. I wore a lehenga-sari (indigo blue and red) with white cut-work embroidery, which is her signature. She was amazing to work with and kept me sane when I wanted to shoot my mother and sister! I also wanted to match my sister and mum so we all wore Ritika’s outfits with cutwork for this function. And luckily Ritika attended the wedding so when I was freaking out about draping it horribly, I just called her over to my room so it worked out perfectly! Jewellery was a set gifted by my mum (not sure of the brand/designer) but it’s pearl and polki necklace, earrings and tika.”
Notice how the Sangeet outfit screams bridal, yet it’s not over the top? That’s because Sahiba chose to highlight only one part of her entire outfit – the blouse – while keeping the rest of it light enough so as to not confuse an onlooker with an onslaught of embroidery all over. That’s the right way to go! Her lehenga is plain, but the lightly sequined dupatta more than makes up for it. And yes, lehenga saris are a great option for your Sangeet!
Wedding
“Like I said before, Ritika created my outfit. I was inspired by this Manish Malhotra lehenga I saw at his showroom but there were so many parts of the outfit that were off. So I told Ritika my criteria and she added her own twist and made it a thousand times better than the original with her signature cutwork incorporated in there. I knew I didn’t want to be a typial bride wearing red so I opted for bubblegum pink instead. I liked the design of having a longer anarkali-like top paired with a lehenga. We had a Sikh wedding and it was not easy to bend over and touch my forehead to the ground 7 times in that outfit! But yes, Ritika has an amazing aesthetic and really made my life easier. She’s a very talented designer and knows what shape and colors to work with for your body. My jewellery was gold and kundan necklace, earrings and mattha pati – given to me by my parents. We originally bought all the outfits and then about a week before the wedding I raided my mother’s jewellery collection and we decided which sets worked the best with each outfit together (Editor’s note: I did the same thing while I was looking for jewellery to pair with my Sangeet outfit! Eventually though I ended up buying mine.)
For a day wedding, her choice of colour is spot on! The soft shade of pink (who knew bubblegum pink could look so freaking pretty?!) looks absolutely stunning in all the pictures, and I love how her jewellery is not OTT even though it’s her own wedding! I think more brides should opt for 2 smaller neck pieces (one long, one short) instead of one massive one. It keeps the look bridal AND subtle. It’s also user-friendly because you can wear the two pieces separately on different occasions. Come on, admit it already. You’re not going to wear that huge wedding necklace ever again! Back to Sahiba – her wedding outfit just screams “pretty, pretty, pretty!” and I can’t stop zooming in on the pictures to take in all the gorgeous details of what she’s wearing.

WOW! Gorgeous outfits. But I think am gonna have to swear off wedding sites. Both Mehak (P&B) and now your site have clothes in 5 figures and 6 figures floating around. My aim is to get my 4 main outfits in under 50k and I just don’t think that gawking at ur lovely pics will help me in any way!!!! Just outta curiosity, does ANY ONE at all buy clothes that are under 15k per outfit for weddings?

haha! I did just that, Rashmi! My mehendi outfit was for 2k and my sangeet outfit got done in under 20k 🙂

I know! I loved your sangeet outfit. But what about wedding lehengas? Are there places in Delhi/Mumbai where I can hope to get sthg under 15k? Am a North Indian Brahm marrying a Tam Bram, so have 2 weddings and 2 receptions to handle. For both the weddings, I want to do traditional, so opting for my mum’s wedding saree in the Noth Indian wedding and an heirloom saree for the Tam wedding (119 years old, worn by his mum’s granny!!!) I want 2 lehengas grand enough for the two receptions; but I just can’t get on board with sthg waaay expensive that I won’t wear again! 😦

Unfortunately, lehengas fit for a reception are hard to find in that range- atleast as far as I know. Why don’t you opt for an anarkali with soft net under it? Gives illusion of bigger ghera cos of the volume, which makes it look grand! You can get one in under 20k.

That’s a good idea, will surely think about it when finalizing. Thanks a ton 🙂

Loved..Loved..Loved her wedding outfit 🙂 So pretty and the choice of the color for a day wedding is bang on 😀 I’ve seen so many brides going over-the-top for a day wedding and ended up looking like Christmas trees (Yeah I know it’s their wedding but too much bling to hurt normal human eye) 😛 And I also admire the make-up..So refreshing and natural 🙂

Hey Sahiba, you looked like a Sahiba only on your wedding day.. Loved the light coloured wedding dress for day time as Alankrita also said. And you all smiles added to your beauty overall. Though light pink might have looked very very girlish but the touch of blue gave it that extra character.
