On 3rd March, 2012, I wrote a post on the beginnings of planning my own wedding. I spoke about a variety of things that were already done from the to-do list, and what else I needed to do immediately. I read this post today, and I couldn’t help but laugh at how sure I was about what I wanted, and what I was going to do. Little did I know, things turn out so different from what you imagine at the beginning of wedding planning. Don’t believe me? See for yourself!
I wore that Angrakha suit just a month later (April 2012) to my fiancé’s cousin’s roka!
Once I saw my pink and red wedding lehenga, the turquoise blue idea disappeared from my mind! Another reason was that when I did try on a blue lehenga, it looked great but so NOT bridal. Had to toss the idea out of the window.
This one really made me laugh out loud! 99% going to be my engagement photographer?! I probably hadn’t even heard of candid photography at that time. No wait, I had. But I had not begun my research. Not heard about the likes of Tarun Chawla and Photo Tantra, and seen their amazing work. And I had thought I would book my roka MUA! Can you read how SURE I was? Once I began this part of the research, I remember my head began to spin (they charge HOW MUCH?!) and I realised I had to get my hands (or rather, face) dirty to figure out who was good.
So if you’ve just begun planning your wedding, don’t be so sure about your decisions so early on. Take a deep breath and take your own sweet time to do some research (the internet, and fellow brides are a great source!) Only when you’ve explored all the options available, and understood what you truly want (wants change!), should you pay the advance and make the final booking.
Happy planning!
